Word of mouth recommendations are a great way to find new holiday destinations to visit. If your friends had a good time somewhere, chances are you will enjoy it too. So what would you make of an island that people return to year after year after year?

Such is the popularity that Lanzarote enjoys, it regularly welcomes back visitors from the UK. There is something about this volcanic island in the Atlantic that grabs you, whether it is the light, the unspoilt scenery, the tourist attractions or simply the weather.

Although it is one of the seven Canary Islands, Lanzarote does deserve to be judged on its own merit. As it has followed its own path and created an alternative kind of tourist development, which is in no way a mirror of what has happened on the other islands.

This has meant that the vast majority of the island has been left untouched, with most holidaymakers accommodated in one of the three coastal resorts. Where a good range of apartments and hotels are located, which is also where the vast majority of holiday villas in Lanzarote can be found.

The villa option has become a particular favourite with many people booking their holidays in Lanzarote , as it allows a degree of freedom that hotels rarely provide. With a great deal more privacy than can usually be had at even the most luxurious establishments, it is easy to understand the rise in demand for this style of accommodation.

When villa hire is combined with car hire in Lanzarote, the perfect holiday is at the visitors’ fingertips. You can come and go as you please, explore every last inch of the island and suit yourselves when it comes to meals. And it won’t break the bank to have a motor at your disposal during the holiday, as rental rates are cheap in comparison with the UK, along with petrol.

All that remains is to decide where to spend each day, whether that involves visiting one of the many beaches the island has or taking in one of the unique tourist attractions. Which were created by the famous artist César Manrique to show holidaymakers something of the culture and history that forms Lanzarote’s past.

Such as the Monumento al Campesino, which is a testament to the hard lives locals used to have when their livelihoods came from farming rather than fishing or tourism.
